From the time of the renaissance, Faust began to be portrayed – notably in a play by Goethe - in the fashionable dress of the time (stockings, puffy short trousers, moustache). Ever since then, the Devil has been red, and wearing stockings. Jules here reiterates his story-telling skill, with a magnificent illustration of the Devil at the tailor’s shop.
